Christopher Litsinger README

Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Welcome to the team! I've written this to help you understand my management style, expectations, and how we can work together effectively. I hope you find this useful and by no means is this intended to be a list of demands for your behavior! We'll figure out how to best work well together over time, but hopefully this will serve as a good starting point.

My Management Philosophy

Leadership Approach

I believe in servant leadership - my role is to remove obstacles, provide context, and enable the team to collaborate and grow. I work hard to hire well, and then I trust the the team to do their best work. When the team succeeeds I will make sure this is visible to our leadership. The team gets credit for our victories and I accept responsibility for my failures. I will be as transparent with the team as I am able to be.

I'm committed to actively supporting your success; When you need help, I will do my best to support you without micromanaging. I will thank you for the work you do, and apoligize when I mess up.

Core Principle:
  • We can deliver excellent service and products without taking ourselves too seriously. It's okay to find joy and humor in our work.
  • I work to build systems & traditions to support the team.
  • The agile process lets us run experiments to improve those systems.
  • Feedback is essential to this process, so please proactively share your thoughts and ideas.

My Requests

What I Value

Feedback

I'm genuinely interested in improving myself as a leader and human. I can only do this with the perspective of everyone on the team. It can be uncomfortable to give constructive feedback to a leader, but I promise I will consider your feedback thoughtfully and with an open mind, especially when my initial reaction is to disagree.

Feedback

I'm only one person with a limited view into your performance. If I have concerns, I will discuss them with you with a sense of curiosity and exploration before reaching conclusions. I have built systems to ensure that I recieve comprehensive feedback from your peers before formal evaluations, and will expect your active participation in providing feedback for your peers in return.
